KHS Band Boosters Scholarship

KHS Band Boosters, Inc. is pleased to offer scholarships to graduating KHS senior band members. These scholarships are awarded on the basis of band/music contributions as performers and leaders, academic achievement, character, and citizenship. These scholarships are subject to availability of funds and are awarded without regard to race, religion, sex, or ethnic origin.

The scholarships are available to graduating seniors who are KHS Band and Guard students.  Recipients must have at least an 80.0 GPA.  Eligibility is based primarily on your contributions to the band’s success. There is no restriction on major or college attending.

The scholarships are funded by the KHS Chapter of the Band Boosters, Inc. and administered by a committee of parents, with input from the KHS band directors. The deadline for submitting the completed application and essay for the Class of 2022 is 11:59 pm on Sunday, April 3, 2022. Please read all instructions carefully and pay special attention to the deadline.  Late or incomplete applications cannot be accepted.

If unable to complete this application online, please contact Mr. McGahey for assistance well in advance of the deadline.

Amanda Richolson Memorial Scholarship

Amanda was an exceptional person who welcomed all new band parents to the Keller Band Family with a smile and a warm greeting.  Parents were drawn to her warmth, kindness, and genuinely outgoing personality, creating a welcoming environment to everyone around her.  She took great pride in volunteering to help the Band and Color Guard programs while still physically able and remained a constant supporter of the program as a whole. Amanda treasured attending all Band and Color Guard activities and loved what the Band stood for and how the program shaped teenagers into exceptional young adults. Amanda will always be remembered for setting a positive example for both parents and students in the Keller Band family.

This scholarship, valued at $350, will be awarded at the end of each academic year to a graduating senior who is deemed to exemplify the following characteristics to their peers and the entire band program as Amanda demonstrated to fellow band parents. These characteristics include, but are not limited to:

  • Being welcoming to all band members, especially new/incoming students, and helping them become engaged with their peers and the program

  • Being patient and kind, as well as willing to provide support where needed to individuals and groups in the band

  • Going above and beyond in being helpful to individuals and to the program as a whole

All eligible Keller High Band graduating seniors who submit application materials for the general Keller Band Boosters Scholarship will be considered for this special, single recipient award and scholarship, and will be asked to provide brief comments about their suitability for this award within the main scholarship application. As with the general Keller Band Boosters Scholarship, this award will be made at the discretion of Keller Band Booster leadership and the band directors. Awarded funds will be disbursed by the Keller Band Boosters directly to the awarded student’s designated college/university.
