Purpose of the March-a-thon
We will be holding our 9th annual March-a-thon on Saturday, Sept.10th from 8:00 a.m. - Noon. This is a fundraiser that the entire KHS band will contribute to, collecting donations and marching the actual 6 mile parade route through Keller. We have a great time, playing on the parade route and also stopping for scheduled concerts along the way.

Thank you to all of the parents that volunteered to make this year’s March-A-Thon the best ever! We want to thank all of the volunteers who helped with donations of your time, Gatorade, fruits, snacks, vehicles, money and more to help make the 2011 Keller High School Band March-A-Thon a huge success. More than 100 volunteers contributed in some way to the event helping raise cash donations of $4,300 going directly to the band exceeding last year by $1,000. This speaks volumes about the level of support our organization provides to the band program contributing to their success.
Special acknowledgment and thank you goes out to the following volunteer coordinators who helped the event run very smoothly:
- Mark & Lisa Price and Gina McKee for organizing the rest stop.
- Sarah Colvin and Mary Ohman who assisted with organizing lunch volunteers.
- Sue & Anthony Vargo for providing access to Hidden Lakes Elementary for lunch.
- Lisa Lerner for providing the Band First Aid vehicle.
- Karen Beaman, Mary Bina, Becky Eller, Karla Love and Rhonda Muegge for providing “Gotta Go” transportation to the students.
- Franklin Poole for providing that cool military truck to haul equipment and ice chest.
- Kerri Slifka, Phillip & Rhonda Dominguez, Erik & Rhonda Muegge for distributing route flyers.
- Mark & Tracie Meredith for capturing photos of the event from start to finish.
- Patricia Pannell for providing on the spot first aid the entire 6 miles!
- Patrick Loughary with Rain Forest Café (and band parent, too) for donating the chocolate cookies for lunch
Thank you to all of the band families along the route who provided support through donations for front yard concerts as well.
Lastly, thank you to the band directors and students for representing Keller High School and playing the numerous front yard concerts. It was a March-A-Thon for the memories!
